Donor Celebration Event
Wednesday, 23 April 2025
The UWCEA Foundation team

The annual Donor Celebration Event is a special evening where we come together to recognise and celebrate the incredible support and generosity of our donor community. This year’s event was held on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, at Hort Park.

The Foundation team, College leaders and educators from both East and Dover campuses warmly welcomed our donors, thanked them for their unwavering support, and shared the transformational impact of giving at UWCSEA.
Throughout the evening, our guests had the opportunity to step into the world of our students – to hear their stories, explore their work, and experience first-hand how community support helps our young changemakers to thrive. Through experiential booths set up by teams from the Dover Ideas Hub, Innovation@East, Sustainability at Dover Campus, and Sustainability at East Campus, guests got a glimpse into student projects and their drive for creating meaningful change.
Our students were truly the heart of the evening. Their energy, passion, and commitment to making a difference shone brightly as they hosted the experiential booths, shared their learning journeys, showcased their work, and brought to life the spirit of UWCSEA.
The highlight of the evening was the student panel, featuring Deng ’25, a Grade 12 scholar from South Sudan at East Campus, alongside Ai ’26 and Yixuan ’26, Grade 11 students from Dover Campus. Moderated by Jill Kaplan, Head of Development, the students shared their inspiring stories – detailing the challenges they overcame, the opportunities they embraced, and the dreams they continue to pursue. Their honest reflections showed how the support of our donor community has helped shape their journeys and enrich their lives.
Deng, Grade 12, Scholar from South Sudan
"At UWCSEA, I discovered what it means to be seen, to be heard and to be loved for who I am. Here I found a home. Because of your donations, I made it to Singapore. You have given me the power to rewrite my story. You have given me hope."

Yixuan, Grade 11, UWCSEA Dover
Yixuan's team won the Socially Sustainable Entrepreneurship Programme competition.
"At first we all had our own ideas that were very different from each other. It was hard at the beginning and it took months to decide through the guidance of our mentor. We learnt to work together. I am so proud that we made the product decisions ourselves. The process of decision making with a team is the most valuable for me. I was also given the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and speak out in public."

Ai, Grade 11, UWCSEA Dover
Chair of the Rainforest Restoration Society
"Rewarding joy! That’s the joy I feel after planting a tree at the Rail Corridor. I am grateful for the continuous support we get for the Rainforest Restoration Project. Getting my hands dirty, raising awareness in the community about sustainability, working with NParks, these are all essential parts of our work at UWCSEA."

The messages of hope, agency, hard work, and dreams coming true shared by our students during the Donor Celebration Event highlighted just how impactful community giving can be.
"We had a great time during the Donor Celebration Event. We are always happy to support the great work of the Foundation, especially the Scholarship Programme, which gives life-changing opportunities to deserving students.
We’ve also supported Sustainability at the College, and seeing our daughter as one of the Ambassadors for Sustainability at the event makes our involvement even more meaningful."
– Amith Narayan and Monisha Kamdar
“It was our pleasure to attend the Donor Celebration Event. We feel honoured to be invited to such a meaningful event. It's truly an eye opener for us to get to know the students better, hearing their dreams and goals in life and what they've achieved at UWCSEA. We had an awesome and fruitful evening indeed and we enjoyed every minute of it!"
– Rajendran Nadarajan and Carol Tolentino
Thank you to everyone who joined us – your presence made the evening a wonderful celebration of gratitude, change, and meaningful connections! And to our valued donors – your support is what makes it possible for students like Deng, Ai, Yixuan, and so many others to step forward, dream bigger, and lead change.
We are deeply grateful for your belief in the power of a UWC education to change lives.
We couldn’t do it without you!
