Celebrating Community:
A Year with Parents' Association (PA East) 2024/2025
Throughout the 2024/2025 school year, the Parents’ Association (PA) East has been an invaluable part of the UWCSEA community. Their dedication to supporting, hosting, and initiating a wide range of events has helped make our College not just a place of learning but also a place of belonging. From the very first meeting of the year in October to the last sweet treats in June, they’ve been behind so many of the moments that brought us together.
They’ve helped new families feel at home, opened doors for students through networking and careers events, organised festivals, and made sure our staff and graduating classes felt celebrated and appreciated. And then there are the little things — the cooking sessions, the mahjong afternoons, the behind-the-scenes hours — that may not make headlines but make all the difference in building the spirit of our community.
Here’s a look back at the activities and events that highlight just how much our parent community contributes.
The year started with intention as PA East hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in October – a chance to share plans for the year ahead, welcome new families, and come together as a parent community. It was also where the new PA team took shape, with parents stepping up to volunteer, lead, and bring their energy into the year ahead.
Professional Networking and Careers Support
PA East hosted several Networking Events across industries including banking, technology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and finance, giving parents opportunities to connect and share experiences.
In addition to networking, a series of Workshops and Informative Talks offered parents a chance to learn — covering topics from professional insights to personal growth. These sessions have become a valued space for parents to exchange ideas and build connections within the community.
The Careers Fair organised by the PA East team also offered students a chance to explore these industries, with parent volunteers providing advice and guidance on future pathways.
Family and Community Celebrations
The PA welcomed new families at the Parents Welcome Event and helping K1 families settle in during K1 Orientation.
The Family Festival also brought families together for an afternoon of food, music, and activities. Movie Night in December gave families a relaxed evening to enjoy a film together in the Sports Halls.
Student and Staff Appreciation
Staff Appreciation in June offered a thank-you to teachers and staff, while Year-End Treats gave students a sweet send-off. Graduation and Grand Walk celebrated Grade 12 students, and the University Transition Evening supported families preparing for the next steps after their children leave East Campus.
Bonding Activities
PA East also organised regular activities that kept the community connected. Mahjong Club brought parents together for friendly games, while Cooking Club meetups offered time to share food and culture. Team Bonding activities helped the PA itself stay connected and ready to support the year’s events.
From welcoming new families to celebrating milestones, sharing meals, and supporting one another, PA East has played an important role in bringing the community together throughout the year.
Every event, big or small, reflects the time, energy, and care parents contribute to life at East Campus. Thank you to every parent who helped make this year full of connection, celebration, and shared moments – we couldn’t do it without you.
